Cincinnati Slides Down Super Bowl 50 charts, After Andy Dalton Injury

Scott Morris | December 15, 2015

Cincinnati has fallen down the odds board for Super 50 in a big way following the injury to starting quarterback Andy Dalton.

Dalton will miss at least the remainder of the regular season due to the thumb injury he suffered against Pittsburgh last Sunday. After the announcement, odds makers moved the Bengals odds from 8 to 1 to 25 to 1

In contrast, the Steelers odds to win the Super Bowl were boost significantly. Pittsburgh defeated the Bengals 33-20 on Sunday and its odds to win the Vince Lombardi trophy were cut to 6 to 1, which puts them fourth on the list to win the Super Bowl behind just New England, Carolina and Arizona.

Pittsburgh is the 2 to 1 choice to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. The Steelers trail just New England in that for the AFC, while Cincinnati dropped to fourth and 12 to 1.

While Dalton could possibly return for the postseason, the grip the Bengals have on a bye for the first round is slipping away. With a 10-3 record, the Bengals are now tied with Denver in second for the conference.

Cincinnati will play Denver in Week 16 on Monday night and that game could decide who will be the AFC’s No. 2 seed behind New England.

The other two Bengals games remaining are more favorable with the Bengals playing San Francisco this week and Baltimore to end the regular season.

With an 8-5 record, Pittsburgh is not even in the playoffs if the season ended today. However, Cincinnati could easily drop two of their three remaining regular season games.

Odds makers have seven NFL teams with single digit numbers to win the Super Bowl
